Okay, my mother will disown me if I don’t post something on Hazel’s first birthday. 🙂
I’m sure that a lot of people feel the same way we do after their first year of parenthood. While on one hand it’s hard to believe that Hazel is already a year old, on the other hand, it feels like she’s been with us a lot longer than that. She’s learned to sit up, crawl, and even walk a few steps, say “Mama,” “Papa,” and “Book,” and has tripled in size.
It hasn’t exactly been a slow year for Elise and me, either. Two cross-country moves, a new job for Chris, completing the at-home part of school for Elise, blizzards in DC, and that’s just off the top of my head. It has been exciting at times, tiring at times, and overall pretty wonderful.
For a First Birthday gift, we got Hazel a dog. Well, that’s not entirely true, but Flora did arrive in California today. She appears to be adjusting well, despite our lack of a yard.
We’re not doing a party or anything this weekend, what with it being the 4th of July and everything, but I think next week we’ll do some kind of low-key, sandwiches-in-the-park type thing.
Anyway, thanks to all our friends and family who have supported us and held Hazel when we’ve needed a nap. Love you guys. Mom, here’s a video of Hazel walking on her birthday:
Also, happy birthday to Hazel’s cousin Addie, who shares July 2nd as a birthday.
